VAN's Mission Statement
The Voluntary Action Network (VAN) is the means of ensuring that the voluntary & community sectors are represented in an active and meaningful way on the decision-making structures within Kirklees. Voluntary & community groups are an important part of Kirklees as they are indispensable and society would collapse without their efforts.
VAN will directly involve the community, with individuals being valued, heard & respected. VAN will place a strong emphasis on working together to make a difference for the community. VAN combines professionalism & good local knowledge, grass roots experience & diversity. VAN is able to respond quickly and to offer innovative & creative solutions.
The Voluntary Action Network will:
- Work with the Kirklees Partnership and / or others to ensure that the range of voluntary & community sector views are effectively being heard, taken into account and incorporated into action. VAN will also work to ensure that structures are representative and accountable.
- Build coherent links between voluntary & community sector representatives involved in partnerships at a neighbourhood, town, sub-district & district level.
