Skipton Building Society are 160 years old, and to celebrate this, they’ve created the Big 160 Appeal which will provide 160 grants of £500 to assist grassroots groups across the country. They’re looking for community based groups, and will consider any proposal, with preference given to organisations who struggle to access mainstream funding and receive little support elsewhere. Nominations for the inaugural Arqiva Emley Moor Community Award are now open.The award, which launched last year in conjunction with Arqiva, aims to celebrate unsung local heroes by inviting people to recognise their contribution towards the lives of individuals, or the work of charities and community projects. During half term, 3rd – 7th June, the Yorkshire Children’s Centre are looking for a team of volunteers to help out with decoration/painting of Brian Jackson College, in Heckmondwike. This is the YCC’s inclusion school and it is in real need of a freshen up. All the paint has been kindly donated. individual volunteers or an organisation that can spare a few of their employees for a couple of days would be gladly welcomed.
