Introduction

VAK supports local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups. We help new groups to get established and assist existing groups to improve what they already do.

Our vision is of an active, inclusive, effective voluntary and community sector in Kirklees.

Our mission is to provide the support and infrastructure that will enable voluntary and community organisations to improve the quality of life throughout the diverse communities of Kirklees

Our work is carried out by specialist staff located in four teams:

Central Services Team

Our Central Services Team provide support via: equipment loan / hire, training and meeting room hire, payroll services, photocopying facilities and a funding point (information on funding sources). More ...

The Organisational Development Team is able to offer assistance to voluntary organisations and community groups which includes the provision of: training, information sessions, a quarterly newsletter (Voice) and guidance from specialist teams. More ...

'Making It Personal': The Civic Partnership Training Programme

13 JANUARY - 24 FEBRUARY 2010

Don't miss this one-off opportunity to take part in an exciting programme of free training and development for the voluntary and community sector in Kirklees. The aim of 'Making it Personal' is to help VCO's as they work towards becoming more resilient and sustainable in a fast-changing operating environment. The programme has a very practical focus and the idea is that participants will leave confident and motivated to turn theory into real action.

'Exploring Collaborations and Consortia'

Have you ever thought about partnering up with another organisation for a one-off project or on a longer term basis?  Do you know all the issues you need to think through or the different models ‘out there’? This free 2 part training course will help you navigate your way through this challenging and exciting way of working.  Adrian Ashton is an prominent trainer and authority on all forms of social enterprise, co-operatives, charities and other models of third sector working.  He’ll be leading the 2 half day sessions at The Media Centre, Huddersfield on 4th and 11th March
